Housing Authority of Bowling Green Executive Director, started his career as the Housing Manager for the Phenix City Housing Authority in Alabama in 1977. Managing 650 units of public housing, he created youth sports, elderly, after-school, and job opportunity programs. In 1987, he moved to Housing Director responsible for 1,092 housing units, 600 section 8 units, and all of educational, sporting and elderly programs.
In 1995, he accepted the position as Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Bowling Green where he is responsible for day-to-day operations of 598 units of public housing. In the past 20 years, he has created a variety of programs which include homeownership, elderly, youth and sports for housing residents and the local community. Under his direction, the HABG has received many local, state and regional awards including HUD’s Housing Authority of the Year and NAHRO’s National Award of Excellence. He has served on several boards including the National Board of Public Housing Directors Association representing the state of Kentucky.
He also served on the Kentucky Housing Association Board of Directors and numerous other local boards in Bowling Green. His present board leadership position is Vice President of Professional Development for SERC NAHRO (Southeastern Regional Conference of National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials). Williams is a Business Administration graduate of Alabama A&M in Huntsville, AL and a certified Public Housing Manager.
